What is it?

An organ specialized for secretion by the infolding of an epithelial sheet. (The covering of internal and external surfaces of the body, including the lining of vessels and other small cavities. It consists of cells joined by small amounts of cementing substance). Glands from which release occurs to a free epithelial surface are exocrine, those that release product to the circulatory system are endocrine.
