Reading Standard Process Labels

Avid label readers looking for elevated amounts of certain VITAMINS or MINERALS will not find them when they examine Standard Process' labels. All Standard Process products embrace the opposite of the mega-dose theory of nutrient supplementation. Instead of providing large doses of FRACTIONATED vitamins or minerals, Standard Process use's a more vital approach. The founder of Standard Process, {royal_lee} Dr. Lee, reasoned that only nutrients kept within their natural and complete form, albeit concentrated, could effectively fill any nutritional gap. (For a detailed explanation of the difference between synthetic vs. whole food supplements {nat_vs_synth} read this). In making all Standard Process products, Dr. Lee's goal has been kept intact - to harness nutrients as they are found in their complete natural matrix, that is, in a whole food state where their potency and efficacy are realized.

In addition, many of the products contain ingredients from bovine, ovine, and porcine tissues such as adrenal gland, liver, kidney, and spleen. While it is these tissues that are listed on the labels, it is the myriad of substances contained in the tissues that provide nutrients and support for the corresponding tissues in the patient.

All ingredients listed on Standard Process labels are listed in descending order by weight/volume.

How To Read The Best Used By Code

The Best Used By code, which is located on all product boxes and on the neck of all product bottles, represents when the product should be used by and the product code. The “L” on the product code signifies the lot number.

For example:
Best Used By
Date 7-04 Typical Label on Standard Process ProductsL216 Product Code

The Best Used By date should not be viewed as an expiration date, but as a guideline for when products are considered 100% potent. The products tend to lose potency over time but may still be considered effective after this date. In this example, the month and year the product is best used by is July 2004. Product code numbers are used to determine when products are produced. In the above example, the product code is L216.

Standard Process is committed to supplying you the highest quality supplements available.
