The Food Guide Pyramid was developed to
translate nutrition recommendations into a food selection guide. The
number of servings recommended from the various groups of foods
decrease as you move from bottom to top.
The design highlights the importance of plant
foods as the base of a healthy diet. The old food pyramid got this
correct. Unfortunately the average person doesn't consume enough
plants, not to mention that
our plant food is devoid (lacking) the proper minerals and vitamins to
be of adequate use for our food.
The Old Food Guide Pyramid encourages low fat,
many breads, grains and starches and a high fiber and plant food
selections. Unfortunately, if you follow this pyramid you'll become an
"American statistic" with much higher chances of developing chronic
degenerative diseases such as arthritis, cancer and diabetes.
This food pyramid came about due to the food
and drug industry's influence on our government, the very institution
that is supposed to be protecting and caring for the welfare of our
population. Follow the old pyramid and you're following a politically
correct diet and a road to health disaster.
