Obesity

Obese maleToday more than 70 million Americans are overweight. Obesity, particularly when associated with unhealthy patterns of body fat distribution, results in 325,000 preventable deaths each year in the U.S. and $100 billion in health care costs. In the last ten years, the incidence of obesity has increased from 25 percent to 32 percent - a level that may be considered epidemic.

Although about 30% to 40% of the obese claim that they are trying to lose weight or maintain weight after weight loss, current therapies appear to have little effect. Despite the plethora of popular diet books, commercial programs, and the government's own attempt at teaching primary care practitioners how to help their patients to lose weight, the results are disappointing.

Let's see if we can give you some solutions for this epidemic.
