Chiropractic Research Demonstrates the Cost Effectiveness of Chiropractic Care

submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/18/2002
Today's escalating medical costs, particularly of occupational low-back injuries, reflect a growing legal, health care and economic crisis in the United States. Estimates of the total annual loss, including lost productivity, due to back pain in the United States range from $20 to $50 billion. To address this issue, over the past two decades, a great many scientific studies have been published in peer reviewed journals, government publications and other resources demonstrating significant cost savings obtainable through chiropractic. By one estimate, the increasing rate of serious back injuries per year is 1,400 percent greater than the rate of population growth.

Chiropractic: An Alternative Healing Art Enters The Mainstream

Spinal manual therapy, of which chiropractors are the primary providers, has now been shown by reputable researchers to be the most demonstrably effective healing method for the most common kinds of lower back pain. submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/20/2002
Movement of the vertebrae in the cervical spine from C-2 to C-7 is revealed upon Videofluoroscopic Joint Motion Study Examination. A differentiation between normal and abnormal findings is obtainable. The pattern of motion(15) observed is interpreted diagnostically.

Low Speed Rear-Impact Collisions - Physical Laws Related to Injuries Incurred

submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/20/2002
The subject of low-speed rear-impact collisions, as related to injuries resulting from them, is an ongoing topic for debate. Particularly useful in this regard is an understanding of the underlying physical laws and engineering principles related to motion and force. These principles help explain how injury can be a byproduct of a rear-end impact, despite the fact that the vehicle involved incurs minimal to no damage.

In the healing professions, the ultimate goal of treatment is patient satisfaction. Consistent with the research findings provided here on cost, further studies demonstrate that for many complaints and injuries involving the spine, other joints and connective structures, chiropractic enhances the patient's treatment experience in terms of immediate relief of pain, hastened restoration of mobility and flexibility, an improved long-term prognosis and fewer repeat visits over time.

Second Judge Excludes Testimony of Engineer

submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/20/2002
Chiropractors and personal injury attorneys are having serious problems settling their personal injury cases. This is because insurance companies across the country have found many engineers are willing to swear under oath that patients could not have been injured because the forces involved in the collision were too minor.

Video Fluoroscopy: Its Necessity and Use

submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/20/2002
Musculoskeletal imaging has been profoundly affected by the development of video fluoroscopy. This is a motion x-ray, which is performed while the patient goes through extension and flexion movements. Video fluoroscopy allows us to evaluate subtle variations of motion throughout the entire arc of motion dynamically. I believe this to be the most reliable source of evidence available of soft tissue injury and/or ligamentous damage.
