While
neck pain (in the cervical spine) is less common than lower back pain (in
the lumbar spine), millions of people experience neck pain and/or related
arm pain at some point in their life.
The vast majority of episodes of neck pain will get better with time and
can be addressed with non-surgical treatments.

Low Speed Rear-Impact Collisions - Physical Laws Related to Injuries Incurred
submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 4/20/2002
The subject of low-speed rear-impact collisions, as related to injuries resulting from them, is an ongoing topic for debate. Particularly useful in this regard is an understanding of the underlying physical laws and engineering principles related to motion and force. These principles help explain how injury can be a byproduct of a rear-end impact, despite the fact that the vehicle involved incurs minimal to no damage.
Lower Back Pain Associated With Whiplash Injury: Does it Add Up?
submitted by Dr. Gary Farr 1/29/2003
Many authors have reported the incidence of lower back pain associated with cervical
acceleration/deceleration (CAD) injury. Accounts vary from a low of 25% by Hildingsson and
Toolanen to 57% by Croft and Foreman. While this relationship may be obvious to clinical
observers, there is a small body of literature that questions its relationship.
