Confessions of a Medical Heretic

One of the best ever ! April 27, 2000

I've read a lot of books on health in my life and this is of the best. If you want to know how to avoid some of the dirty tricks doctors pull, you've got to study this one. Most diseases are self-limiting, but your doctor won't tell you that. He'll drug and cut you in a heart beat. Another good series of books are by Joel Wallach, Herbert Shelton and Cass Igram. The state of medicine today is as bad or worse than it was 20 years ago. Do yourself a favor and get this book.

This book confirmed many things that I had already known or suspected about the practice of medicine. I really liked how the author dug into the philosophical aspects of doctor/patient relationships: the absolute power we give them. And it was neat to find someone -- a doctor even -- who agreed with my perception that doctors have their own secret language which protects their knowledge (their power) and wouldn't you know, it's LATIN. (If you're a devout Catholic be forewarned.) But best of all, this book is absolutely hilarious. You might as well keep your sense of humor in all of this, and I found myself laughing out loud as I read.

Deadly Facts December 26, 1999

Dr. Mendelsohn pulls no punches in this fabulous critique of the many harmful practices of Western style medicine. Even though the book is now 20 years old, its message rings just as loud and true today. He goes right for the jugular, and deservedly so.
The author of the excellent natural vision improvement book, Relearning to See, quoted excerpts from Dr. Mendelsohn which struck such a chord that I just had to buy Confessions of a Medical Heretic to read more. It hasn't disappointed.

Dr. Mendelsohn discusses some of the deadly consequences of the invasive style of Western medicine, including those resulting from medical errors that are finally being "discovered" nowadays by scientific studies. He also gives some sobering examples of mortality rates dropping significantly when doctors went on strike. There's something terribly wrong with a system that's designed to help us restore our health, but ends up causing more harm instead.

Your well-being rests with you and should not be relinquished to the so-called "experts" and "specialists". This book is an excellent guide on the road to taking back control of your health.
