All About Standard Process / Unique Farming and Manufacturing Methods
Page: 1

The Kettle Moraine Basin of Wisconsin is the setting for Standard Process's farms (moraine is material transported by a glacier and then deposited). Glaciers, hundreds of thousands of years ago, deposited rich, black soil, laden with minerals and nutrients. It is here, on over 1,000 acres of pesticide free farmland, that Standard Process® organically grows many of the raw materials used in their whole food supplements.
Producing a healthy harvest begins by preserving the natural growing nutrients found in the rich soil. Standard Process utilizes strict certified organic farming methods and even the byproducts that remain after the extraction process to make the finished nutritional products are returned back to the soil. Standard Process is sensitive to the environment that allows patients all over the world to regain their health through whole-food nutrition. |

On average, it takes six weeks from the time the raw plant materials are harvested until the finished product is realized. The meticulous detail in assuring a high-quality whole-food supplement is what the company and their founder, Dr. Royal Lee wanted. You can be assured that you're always receiving the highest quality supplements with the detail that's followed in the farming and manufacturing process.
Another key factor in producing strong, healthy crops is irrigation. Standard Process's irrigation system is supplied from an artesian well tapping into glacier waters over five hundred feet below the earth's surface. This glacier water is then sprayed in a mist, similar to a fine rain, over the fields.
Standard Process's founder, Dr. Lee, emphasized the importance of producing high quality, nutritionally pure food supplements. After the various crops are harvested including alfalfa, beets, buckwheat, carrots kidney beans, pea vine and Spanish Black Radish, the manufacturing process begins, including grinding, juice extraction and the use of low-temperature, high-vacuum drying. This assures that the nutrients found in the high quality plants are preserved.
After processing the raw foods, the whole food supplements are made into tablets, capsules or powders. High tech computers monitor the process, assuring that quality is not compromised. Highly trained microbiologists and chemists perform as many as 400 tests on the raw materials, the various batches and finally the finished product. The finished product is sealed in amber glass bottles, This unique packaging prevents oxidation which occurs when light comes in contact with the product. Each bottle is then labeled and packaged for delivery.
Standard Process is involved from the moment a seed is planted through packaging the finished product. That's what makes Standard Process unique in the industry...and is why they say "Quality Is Our Tradition."
