Never before has any book outlined so well the extreme horrors that will inevitably befall many of our nation's children due to the DPT shots that have been enforced on our nation's young. At this moment in time, children (and adults) are suffering from the ramifications of these vaccinations such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), dissociative disorder, schizophrenia, seizures, Crohn's disease, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, antisocial personality disorder and too many other illnesses to mention here. When those of our country finally ban together and recognize that only a mere handful of individuals are benefiting from these innoculations, and that in the form of financial remuneration, then and only then will our country begin to awaken to recognize that a recovery is necessary in order to ensure the furtherance of the human race, for all the damage this has done since the 1940's until now.

In Barbara Loe Fisher's book, A shot in the dark, She reveals chilling stories and facts surrounding the truth about the DPT vaccine. Parents, I recommend this book highly when thinking about immunization.

Having been proven affected by the DPT shot, I can tell you that what she tells is the truth. I have ADD, ADHD, Epilepsy and a host of other allergies/afflictions.

At the time of the conclusion of my lawsuit, I was only one of two DPT affected children who were lucid, fully functional people able to lead what would be considered a "normal" lifestyle. Most others are severely crippled.

I also might add that I was at one time featured in this book (I've not read this edition, so I can't verify that).

When I read A Shot in the Dark I was both saddened and enraged. Saddened because I have a vaccine-damaged child and enraged that the government, the medical establishment, and pharmaceutical companies use our children as guinea pigs. This is one of the most well-researched books I have ever read and I strongly urge any person who has received vaccines themselves or has children (or intends to have children) to read this book and investigate this issue for themselves. I only wish I had access to this book before my daughter was born.

15 years old today, if I knew then what I know now it would of changed my life. Anyone with hopes of having a child should read this book and believe, my daughter is living proof of what the DPT vaccine can do. I tell everyone I know about this books in hopes of sparing them the horror we have and still are living through.

This book affords a chilling glimpse into the world of organized health care and the nightmare which faces vaccine damaged children and their families. As the father of a child who was crippled for life by a pertussis vaccine, I can certainly attest to the horrors it relates. But I would go on record as saying it is mainly a must-read for doctors, because parents won't read it until it is already too late to do anything (as in my case, for example). But doctors must be made to see that current vaccination practice, as it now stands, is destroying the lives of thousands of people needlessly. Furthermore, they should be made aware of the extent to which the institutions they belong will go in order to cover up the evidence when it implicates an accepted practice.

My only criticism of this book is that it will not bring my son back to me.

It is so horrible to believe that this truely happens to children and their parents. I wish I had read the book 21 yrs. ago, but thank the Lord my children were okay. But you better believe I'm going to recommend this book to every pregnant person I know, I will at the very least include it with a baby shower gift. As I read the stories I cryed my eyes out, it broke my heart as a mother. It must be the most terrible nightmare for a parent to live with, after a reaction to the "shot".

I do remember my children getting red sore hot lumps where the injection was, and they did vomit at least once.

It just so awful that we can't trust anything in our society, not our President and not our Doctors.

I am an RN, and have been taking care of a child with seizures, and brain damage for over a year now. The parents gave me his history.
The theory was that the seizures and developmental problems, which started after 3 months of age in an otherwise totally normal child until that time, were caused by the pertussis vaccine.

There was never a way to prove his problems were due to the vaccine, although all tests on the child and parents were negative as to any cause.
I cared for this child for a year before I read the book.

I was amazed at the similarity of his history with that of many other children in the book, and when I finished reading the book, there was no question in my mind that this child's problems were due exclusively to the vaccine.

Anyone considering parenthood,are pregnant, have newborns,are grandparents; owe it to themselves to read this book.

Be informed of the side effects so your child won't be one of the statistics. There are other alternatives, and also the new acellular vaccine is available now, but only to those who ask until the old vaccine is no longer available.

The authors of this book have perceived, through their research and interviews, significant health threats associated with the pertussis vaccine. They have challenged the relationship between the profit motivated and secretive phamaceutical companies and an affluent medical establishment. They have taken on the arduous task of convincing the American public, which is enamored with it's national medical reputation, that the public's best interests are often not the guiding principles. We Americans have grown up in a society that rarely questions it's medical establishment. This is true even as history has time and again proven that this establishment has often promulgated dangerous and deadly medical practices. One needs not search far to find examples of malpractice disguised as scientifically "proven" medical treatment. The better known of these include blood-letting and the application of leeches to draw out disease. Dr. Benjamin Rush of colonial Philadelphia is heralded not only as a patriot but, more importantly as one of the founders of our American medical establishment. Less known, is his record during the Yellow Fever epidemics of his day. His arrogant and persistent defense of his own method of treatment, which consisted of purging the afflicted patient by infusing them with mercury, undoubtedly hastened the deaths of thousands. Modern medicine has, indeed, done much to improve the health of our society today but this does not, nor should it, protect it from concientious public scrutiny and mandated reform when medical policy goes awry. The authors ask us to question an entrenched medical establishment and they do it very effectively, all the while maintaining a strict journalistic integrity. This book is an important introduction to a profound problem facing us as a society. It is well worth the discomfort you will experience while reading it.
